The Chartered Register Project

In September 2010, The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners were awarded their Royal Charter and in recognition with the status awarded in association with a Royal Charter became a Body Corporate with the sole authority to establish the Chartered Register of Practitioners in Environmental Cleaning and kindred occupations.

Whilst many of our industry sectors are represented by numerous Trade Associations under the stewardship of British Cleaning Council the Chartered Register of Practitioners (Professionals) will be a formal record and acknowledgement of an individual’s status within our diverse industry.

Members of all sectors of the cleaning and support services sector may apply for registration and will not need to be a member of the Environmental Cleaners Livery; however, they will need to go through a qualification process that will include current industry related qualifications, length of service within the sector, a written thesis on an industry related subject set by the awarding body and pre-admission interview.

The Chartered Register and Education Committee of the WCEC are currently developing the framework under which qualification will be achieved and we await final approval by the Privy Council of the qualification structure before launching the Register during 2018.

The establishment of the Chartered Register is a major step forward in gaining the recognition of our industry members across all cleaning and hygiene related services as true professionals.
