Charity Trust

The Trustees meet four times a year.

The Trust was established as a charity by trust deed 29 September 1976 under the name of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners Benevolent Fund and is registered with the Charity Commissioners under No 271058. On 3 June 1997 it changed its name from Benevolent Fund to Charity Trust.

The Trustees are;

I K Tahhan, M A Marden (Mrs),T J Doyle, P Morrish, M G O’Connor(Chairman), J R Broadley, M A F Bizley.

The Trust was established for;

  • the relief of poor persons engaged in cleaning in industry, commerce and the public service and the wives, widows, children and other dependents of such persons being in necessitous financial circumstances,
  • the furtherance of education and training in connection with the advancement of hygiene within the community, and
  • the benefit of such charitable institution or institutions purpose or purposes in such shares between them if more than one of the Trustees with the consent of the company shall from time to time think fit.

Members are expected to support the Trust by way of voluntary annual donations supported by gift aid.

The benefit to the Company of a gift aid donation is that tax at the basic rate is recoverable from the Inland Revenue.

The benefit to the individual if you are a higher rate tax payer is that you can offset the gross amount of the voluntary donation against income tax.

Voluntary donations are made by Bankers Order

Of course there are many deserving Charities and we make donations specifically to the following on an annual basis in the sum of £30,000.00.
