I’m not sure it counts as a highlight, but definitely memorable was the time we were left stranded outside The Mansion House dressed in all our finery.
I was installed as Master in April 2000 at the Mansion House. The event was attended by over 350 guests, including the Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Clive Martin OBE and the Lady Mayoress.
After the banquet I was chatting to the Lord Mayor, who happened to come from a village very close to my home in Cheshire.
By the time wife Julie and I left the Mansion House, the two coaches that we had booked to take us and our personal guests back to the hotel for the after party, had departed without us with each thinking they were in the other coach!
