Speed Read (11 November)

‘Speed Read’ is sent out to Environmental Cleaners’ members to keep them up to date with Livery Company and City of London life, initiatives and events you they be interested in.

If you are a member of the Environmental Cleaners and did not receive a copy of Speed Read by email, please check you spam folder in case it has been caught in that. If not, please email Alistair Moses.

Members can give our Charitable Trust a boost, simply by shopping online using the Give as you Live website. As an added incentive, the website also has some fantastic prizes up for grabs. For five weeks starting on 14 November, members have the chance to win a prize worth over £350 each week. The lucky winner will also receive a £25 donation for their favourite charity.

Please remember though, the Give as you Live site is not just for Christmas!


Eric Hill Memorial Award

The Eric Hill Memorial Award 2016 was presented by the Master, Philip Morrish, at our Court Luncheon held at Saddlers’ Hall on 9 November 2016.

Mr Christopher Horton, Director of Operations, representing Novus, the business sector of Manchester College collected the certificate and purse.


The Lord Mayor’s Show

If you’re going to be watching the Lord Mayor’s Show tomorrow (either in person or on TV), keep an eye out for the Environmental Cleaners on the modern livery company float. They should be waving our flag and carrying our banner during the procession.  


lesley-thomsonIt’d be a crime to miss it

Don’t miss out on our Ladies’ Banquet / celebration of 30 years as a Livery Company on (Friday 25 November).

Renowned crime fiction writer Lesley Thomson, whose primary character Stella Darnell is an accidental detective and owner of a cleaning business, will give the after-dinner speech.


Armed, but not dangerous

The final Grant of Arms workshop of 2016 takes place on Monday 5 December at IT Hall. Tickets are still available for general admission. Full details and online enrolment.

The first Grant of Arms workshop in 2017 will be held in York, at Bedern Hall, the home of the Gild of Freemen of York and the Company of Cordwainers of that same City. Any members living in the catchment area of the Brigantes events (north of the river Trent) may wish to attend on 20 January. Full details and online enrolment here.
