Speed Read (22 September)

We have a busy week ahead at the Environmental Cleaners. Our General Meeting, Court Meeting and Annual Military Awards Presentations and Luncheon are all taking place. We look forward to seeing many of you there. As usual, ‘Speed Read’ is here to keep you up to date with initiatives and events you may be interested in.

If you are a member of the Environmental Cleaners and did not receive a copy of Speed Read by email, please check you spam folder in case it has been caught in that. If not, please email Alistair Moses.

Do you have any photographs, videos or other material to share on our new look website? Please let us know.

We’re particularly keen to hear from any Past Masters who aren’t yet featured in their section.

We want the new website to be a useful tool for all members and a resource to collect and maintain information over time.

On the move
The way we transport people and goods is changing rapidly. The Worshipful Company of Coachmakers invites you to the Institute of Mechanical Engineers on 12 October 2016 to gain insight into the future of transport.

Now in its 34th year, the Goldsmiths’ Fair – the annual showcase of British fine jewellery and contemporary silver – is the premier destination to buy the most exquisite, one-of-a-kind precious metal pieces. The event takes place over two weeks (27 September – 2 October and 4 – 9 October).

The artistic among you may also be interested in the Glaziers’ Art Fair which opens for private viewings on Monday 24 October at Glaziers Hall.

Beefing up your lunch options
The Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers are opening their Hall for Carvery Lunches each month next year. If members are interested in booking they should contact Sarah Levy or call 0207 248 1163.

Not feeling sheepish about dressing up
Linda Harlow (Witness Service) and Dominic Chalk (CPS), who both work at the Old Bailey, are exercising their rights as Freemen of the City of London to drive sheep over London Bridge to raise money for the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund. The drive will start on the north side of the bridge at 4.07 pm on Sunday 25 September.

Linda and Dominic will be dressing up for the occasion and hope that the sheep will behave impeccably for them! So, if you are in need of light entertainment, please go and join in the fun or you can sponsor them if you’d like.
