Deadly date for Ladies Banquet?

crime-sceneThis year’s Ladies’ Banquet (Friday 25 November) will also be our official celebration of 30 years as a Livery Company.

Our after dinner speaker for the event is renowned crime fiction writer Lesley Thomson, whose primary character Stella Darnell has lots in common with our members.

Lesley will tell us about the process of writing crime fiction and how Stella came to be her main protagonist.

Guests will also have the chance to have their company, or themselves, mentioned in her next novel (due out in 2018) by taking part in our silent auction in aid of Lesley’s chosen charity – St Peter and St James Hospice in Lewes, East Sussex.

golfIt’s our Annual Golf Day on Friday 21 April 2017, at the Sand Martins Golf Club in Wokingham.

Think you are up to the test of 18 holes of challenging golf? Then come along. The good news is your energy levels will be sustained by coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, and then a three-course carvery lunch.

The day starts from 09.45 and costs £65.00 per person. Guests are welcome.

To reserve your place and receive further information about the day or local accommodation please email PME Barrie Torbett or call 07789 266015.

Cleaner communities are safer communities

CleanupUK is a charity which focuses on helping those who are most in need, usually in areas of deprivation, to combat the litter problem where they are. Through involvement in this activity, people feel their communities are safer, more welcoming and friendlier.

It is currently running a ‘Beautiful Boroughs Project’ in east and north London. CleanupUK also helps anyone, wherever they live in the UK, to form a litter-picking group to strengthen their community. Find out more at
