Help the world famous Garsington Opera to get young people involved. The Lord Mayor Alderman Peter Estlin and the world-famous Garsington Opera are hosting an outreach project aimed at young people across London. Six secondary schools (City of London Academy, Drapers’ Academy, Prendergast School, Prendergast Ladywell School, Westminster City School and Hammersmith Academy) are taking part with 240 students being given the exciting opportunity to work with a team of world-class directors, composers and singers to explore Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni in more detail. Students will develop their musical and performance skills, compose their own pieces in response to Mozart’s opera and come together to share their work in a one-day event at Guildhall on 16th July 2019. A group of students from one school will then be invited to remain at Guildhall to perform a short extract from their work to guests before a fundraising dinner that same evening. At the dinner, a shortened version of Mozart’s Don Giovanni will be presented and sung by the understudies for each role, who are members of Garsington Opera’s Alvarez Young Artists Programme.

This is a truly unique event, combining not just a fundraising dinner but also a performance of Don Giovanni by exciting young opera talent and an unparalleled outreach opportunity for 240 11-16 year old school students in London.

This project aims to give added value in musical and dramatic experience to all the students, that will continue long after the end of this project. Sponsorship of the event is available at a number of levels, both from Livery Companies and from Business:Sponsorship of the school workshops in their own schools, enabling the teachers and students to work together with the professionals from Garsington Opera.  Sponsors will be able to visit the schools, and develop long-term relationships and mentoring opportunities with both school teachers and students.  We would like sponsorship of T-shirts for the students, giving them and their schools an identity with this project and their sponsors.  The T-shirts would be inscribed with the logos of the sponsoring bodies.Sponsorship of the Dinner.  Tables will be at Platinum, Gold or Silver levels, depending on the distance from the Dias in the Guildhall, which will act as the stage. You may have other ideas of how to engage with this unique opportunity. If you wish to sponsor click the link below or click ‘Find out more’ for further information. Become a SponsorFind out more
Thanks to everyone who joined us at this years Cleaning Show! The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners is grateful to the British Cleaning Council for allowing us space on their stand at this year’s Cleaning Show. The Membership & Communications team occupied the stand on the Wednesday afternoon and, armed with pop-ups and the new Livery Card, engaged with many of the show’s visitors as well as meeting with our members in attendance. It was a fantastic show this year and a huge ‘thank you!’ to everyone who supported us in the lead up to the event and on the day itself!
