Welcome to the first Speed Read of 2019! It’s our way of keeping you up to date with Livery Company and City of London life, initiatives and events.

Begin the journey to achieving Freedom of the City of London


  Any Freeman of the Company who wishes to attain the Freedom of The City of London and progress to become a Liveryman of our Company is required to attend an internal WCEC Livery Training session, and also a City Briefing session provided by The City of London Corporation.Our internal WCEC Livery Training session will take place on WEDNESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2019 at the Alderman’s Dining Room in the Guildhall. 5:30-8pm. Buffet food and drink will be provided.

Any Freeman or Liveryman who wishes to learn more about our Company and making progress through the Company is very welcome to attend these sessions. They are most informative and helpful in understanding the important role The Livery plays in City life.

City Briefing Sessions
 The City Briefing Sessions, provided by The City of London Corporation. at Guildhall, will take place on 5th February, 15th May, 21st  October and the 19th November. Any Freeman or Liveryman who wishes to attend any of these briefings should contact the Clerk at least two weeks before the event.subscription

Brigantes invite you to subscribe
  Subscribing Members will be sent notice of events first, will be able to book immediately and will receive a discount of up to £15 per place for themselves and one guest.

The Brigantes subscription for the year commencing 1 February 2019 is £40. Payment of the subscription (due by 1 February 2019) may be by electronic transfer or cheque.

Liverymen who do not wish to subscribe are still most welcome at events subject to availability.

Put on your dancing shoes at the annual Burns Supper
 
The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers will be celebrating the life of Rabbie Burns at Painters’ Hall with a traditional Burns Night Supper, held at Painters’ Hall on Wednesday, 23 January 2019.

Join in for musical entertainment during the evening with “easy” Ceilidh dancing for those who wish to join in. Join the 10th Grant of Arms Workshop
 
The 10th Grant of Arms workshop will be held on Monday 11 March at IT Hall. The workshop is open to all Freemen, Liverymen and their guests.The evening will open with a drinks reception and buffet before moving on to explore the topic of heraldry, the law of arms and the options for petitioning the Crown for a lawful grant of hereditary armorial bearings more commonly known as a ‘coat of arms’
