Welcome to the latest Speed Read. It’s our way of keeping you up to date with Livery Company and City of London life, initiatives and events.


Don’t Miss out on this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal fund raising events!

Support the Lord Mayor’s wife, Samantha, in this year’s City Dip taking place on the 1st June 2018. Donations can be made to www.justgiving.com/Samantha-Bowman7 or you can take part yourself for a 30 minute slot in return for a donation of £100!

For the first time ever, the Lord Mayor will be taking part in not one but two Abseil Challenges! The abseils will take place at two of the City’s tallest buildings, the first on the 13th June at Twentytwo Bishopsgate and the second on the 14th September at the Leadenhall Building (the Cheesegrater). Funds raised will go to the multi-year Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which will fund groundbreaking programmes from three fantastic charities which will not only change, but also save people’s lives: Samaritans, Place2Be and OnSide Youth Zones.

These streets were made for walking!

We have received some fantastic feedback following the Consorts’ Livery Halls walk that took place on the 17th April 2018. A group of past, present and future City Consorts gathered to tour 39 of the 40 livery halls in London along with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales. The event also allowed for a little fund raising in the form of a prize draw, raising £160 for the WCEC Charity Trust. Read feedback or find out more about the day by clicking the link below.

This year’s Common Hall and the Shrieval Election will take place at the Guildhall on Monday June 25th. The deadline for nominations has now passed and as there are 4 candidates there could be a contested Election.
