Charitable Trust

The Trust was established as a charity by trust deed 29 September 1976 under the name of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners Benevolent Fund. It is registered with the Charity Commissioners as No 271058.

On 3 June 1997 it changed its name from Benevolent Fund to Charity Trust.

The Trust was established to:

  • help less fortunate people engaged in cleaning in industry, commerce and public service (and their wives, widows, children and other dependents) who are in need of financial support
  • further education and training in connection with the advancement of hygiene within the community
  • benefit other charitable institutions (where more than one of the Trustees sees fit and with the consent of the company)

Applying for Grants

Should you wish to seek a Grant please download and complete the Grant Application Form (WCEC Charity Grant Application Form), and return to the Almoner ( Almoner@wc-ec.com).

Members are expected to support the Trust by way of voluntary annual donations supported by Gift Aid. The benefit to the Company of a Gift Aid donation is that tax at the basic rate is recoverable from the Inland Revenue. The benefit to the individual, if you are a higher rate tax payer, is that you can offset the gross amount of the voluntary donation against income tax.

Voluntary donations are made by Bankers Order or by clicking on the red Donate button.
